A protégé of Joan Lader, Jill Edwards, started teaching in 1995. Vocal training methods taught to Jill Edwards by Joan Lader over the last 21 years (and ongoing) are the basis of the technique Ms. Edwards teaches to singers. Relying on and executing Ms. Lader's successful methods of developing and maintaining a healthy voice has allowed Ms. Edwards to build a diverse studio comprised of singers of all ages, at all levels and performing all styles. Ms. Lader's work as a therapist, working with the injured voice, is world-renowned. As the patients recover, they are passed on to Ms. Edwards to ensure the continuation of healthy singing habits and to take them to their professional height.

After only one year of teaching, she was approached to teach at the prestigious Hartt School of Music. She currently teaches students sent to her by Ms. Lader, musical coaches, conductors, accompanists, casting directors and agents. Her students include domestic and international recording artists, Broadway singers, opera singers and cabaret performers.

Ms. Edwards has a particular interest in children. "I like being the first teacher a youngster might have so that I can ingrain in them not only healthy, viable singing habits, but also get them to teach themselves, creating lasting skills and awareness. I try to healthily preserve and strengthen what is already there, all the while building technique for the long run."

As a performer, Ms. Edwards has starred in over two dozen operas, numerous concerts and cabaret acts, singing in French, Italian, German and English. A thoroughly-trained actress, Ms. Edwards studied with Ed Kovens, founding member of the Lee Strasberg Institute, and was invited, over 15 years ago, to become a lifetime member of the Actors Studio by Frank Corsaro, noted opera director and artistic director of the Actors Studio at the time. She has appeared in numerous straight acting productions since then.

Originally from Columbus Grove, Ohio, she received her B.A. in Music Education from Bowling Green State University in 1979, where she was chosen to be in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." She then went on to do an apprenticeship with Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit before moving to New York to continue her acting and singing career.

Currently she resides in the Inwood section of Manhattan with her husband, Ed, who she's been with for over 21 years, and their Russian Blue cat, Mieu.

Ms. Edwards has also conducted the following workshops:
